John Patrick is a licensed real estate agent and founder of ABOVE THE FOLD. With experience in real estate, architecture, public relations, and development, he has the ability to collaborate with clients, marketing teams, and real estate professionals in a variety of ways.
A licensed real estate agent at Clyde Realty in Detroit, John Patrick graduated from Tulane University with a degree in Economics. Through internships and studying abroad he gained international experience in Belize, the Netherlands, Germany and Copenhagen.
In addition to selling real estate in Detroit, John Patrick has curated design teams for projects in different neighborhoods for clients who seek to have impact.
Early on, he was interviewed by The Real Deal about the making of ‘starchitects’ and The New York Times about housing trends coming out of a recession.
More recently, John Patrick’s adaptive reuse of a 1930s commercial building was featured in Hour Detroit for its emphasis on preservation, reinvention, and sustainability.
In 2022, the City of Detroit’s Planning and Development Department appointed John Patrick to the Neighborhood Advisory Council (NAC) for Fisher 21 Lofts, the adaptive reuse of the historic Fisher Body Plant No. 21 automotive plant into a $153 million mixed-use apartment building. He continues to serve on the NAC which is set to implement a plan in early 2025.
In 2017, Commercial Observer named him one of the Top Young AEC Pros to Watch and in 2016, he published an op-ed in Crain’s Detroit Business titled “Detroit must keep an eye on building design,” emphasizing the need to be creative in the United State’s first UNESCO City of Design.
In 2014, shortly after founding ABOVE THE FOLD, Cultured Magazine featured him amongst others in arts & culture for “shaping the now.”
